It's Raining So We must Be Riding Today

So our good buddy Scott is doing well and Steve and Olivia are getting acclimated to Mexico. It's a possibility that they all will be able to fly home in time for Christmas which would be cool. I'm so thankful as things can always be worse. We will miss you Scott!

Yesterday afternoon while waiting for Scott to be moved out of ICU Steve installed a power outlet on my bike. Scott volunteered the use of his GPS so we could use it as a backup to our paper maps.

Yes when we left Veracruz this a.m. it was raining.....again. I was happy to be on two wheels again. Veracruz is the fourth largest city in Mexico and two years ago when we stopped there it took quite awhile to find our way out and back onto the main road. This year we were smarter and had our hotel's owner draw us a map to get out. That made it sooooo much easier. If and when we stay in another city I will definitely do that again. It didn't quite rain all day so James was able to take this shot.

And Mike snapped this one during our lunch stop. The kids enjoy the tiny magnets I demonstrate and them give to them. During lunch this guy came riding up for lunch with his grandkid, horse and machete.

Today's ride was mostly on toll roads which are mostly good surfaces and we made good time. By the way our "Dead Dog Count" is up to four. We only count the ones that are actually on the road. Today's dog was being eaten by vultures.

We arrived in the state of Chiapas which is hilly and beautiful. This is one time that it wasn't foggy or raining. This is part of the country is really spectacular.

If you check our location tonight you would see the aerial view of this nice hotel we are staying at. We have a very nice room with three beds which cost us 410 pesos ($1US=12.90 Pesos)Tomorrow the plan is to get up reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelly early and leave(like 6). Our destination is San Pedro de Laguna. Mike and I were there two years ago but Jim has never seen it. Zoe and I spent ten days hiking around the lake. She says this was here favorite vacation to date. That is really saying something as she has been so many cool places.
